Appendiceal Neuroendocrine Tumor Mimicking Acute Appendicitis

Appendiceal carcinoids are the most frequent tumors arising from appendix, comprising between 32 and 57% of all appendiceal tumors. The gross appearance appendix showed perforation at tip with 30 ml peri-appendicular collection. On histopathological examination, carcinoid tumor on was found cells arranged in tubules, acini nests infiltrating muscularis propria sub serosa. Perineural vascular invasion not seen. Immunohistochemistry for Synaptophysin positive Ki-67 labelling index 2%. We present a case neuroendocrine chief complaint acute appendicitis.
